Description
while the base kodi interface works well, most plugins for it are currently broken. plasma bigscreen would allow the usage of any linux software within a similar interface (including kodi itself for any backward compatibility needs). it also comes with some software designed for larger screens and limited-input controllers.
looking at the various installation options for plasma bigscreen, debian bookworm seemed to be the simplest option.?i think this task would consist of:
- backing up important files from the pi,
- installing standard debian bookworm on the pi, with plasma as the desktop environment,
- restoring backed-up files onto the new OS,
- installing plasma-bigscreen via the package manager,
- setting up auto-login with plasma-bigscreen as the desktop environment.
i will plan to do this at an upcoming open hack night (likely the next), unless someone else wants to get it started sooner.
from there. We can set up various software (jellyfin and navidrome clients, kodi, etc).
